Back in the Saddle? Maybe!

So obviously I haven't kept up with the whole weekly post thing!  Oh well, life just gets in the way sometimes!  I haven't done much lately.  I made some curtain ties and a felted kindle cover for myself.  For those who don't know what felted means....you use 100% wool yarn and use a much larger hook or knitting needles that you usually would, this makes the product look pretty holey.  You also make the pattern a lot larger than it would normally be.  Once you have made the object, you wash it in hot water either by hand or machine.  You have to keep an eye on  it though as it starts to shrink!  Kinda like shrinky dinks except with wool!  Pretty soon all the holes are "felted together" and the fabric feels like a very think felt.  You can even cut it once it is felted and it will not unravel.  Pretty cool stuff!
I made some baby flip flops the other day.  So cute!
On the agenda for this week are cupcake hats.  We are having a ladies banquet at church and the theme is sweet stuff and costumes are encouraged and the best one gets a prize!  I can't wait, it is going to be so much fun!  If anyone would like to come, it is Saturday, May 12 at 6 pm at Victory Independent Baptist Church located South of Yellville.  If you would like more info, please contact me!

Sweet Little Things

Valentine's Day has come and gone, Yay!  I personally am not a fan, but for those of you who are, I hope you had a fabulous day with your sweetheart.  I did make one valentine themed thing this year upon request from my friend Carrie.  I hope she stays snugly warm in her hat!

I also made a monkey hat for my favorite lil' monkey man for his birthday.  It was so much fun to create and then to see him wear....for 2 seconds and then rip off his head! Lol!  He was much too busy to worry with such non-sense on his first birthday.  His wonderful mom did sneak a pic of him later while he was sleeping!  :)  Yay!! Isn't he just precious!  Thank you again, Brandy for inviting us to celebrate his special day!  We had a blast!

This week on the needles is a pair of fingerless gloves for someone else who is having a birthday this week!!  They are turning out quite nice, even though I did have to start them 3 times...grrr...but makes the end result that much better! :)  On the hook this week is a pair of sweet baby shoes for an upcoming baby girl!  Lots to do!  If only, I could quit my day job...sigh... Oh well!  I can always dream, right?  A big thank you again to all my customers and fans!  I love playing with yarn and you give me a good excuse to do so.  God Bless!

Owl-mazing!

I finished a hat last night and it is by far my favorite one that I have done.  The yarn is just fabulous!!  I can't wait to show it to you, but you are going to have to wait, because it is a surprise for the recipient so....until then think purple and silver thoughts!

Hog sets!

I finished up some beanies over the weekend and started some hog sets for babies.  I got one set complete last night!!  I just need to add tassels and a button to the other set.  On the agenda for the rest of the week is a girlie hat and shoe set, a valentine hat, fingerless gloves that I promised Brandy eons ago and a monkey hat for my favorite monkey man! I am hoping to finish up these orders and then start on some beanie/beard sets!  My friend Sacha has some perfect models for me, so stay tuned to see who can magically grow a beard!  :)

Yarn Pig Sooie!!

Well, I ran out of black yarn for a hat I was working on last night...AND I promised a new hog item this week... SO I took the opportunity to finish the hog.  Here it is...A Hog Cozy!  Thanks to my friend Cameron for giving me the idea.  I have a little bit of tweaking to do on the size as I didn't have a pop can at home, but otherwise I am happy with it.  I would love to have any feedback on it, good, bad or ugly!  Thanks for looking! Have a great rest of the week!

2012

It is a new year, and I am going to try to keep a small blog of all that I work on each week.  This week I finished up the scarf in the picture that I have been working on for 2 months!  Eeek!  It is 2 foot wide by 6 foot long and it was knit.  Just a simple garter stitch, but with everything else I had going on, it took a while.  I am pretty proud of it, and I hope the owner likes it as well.  Also this week, I am working on some beanies and will hopefully finish an owl before the week is out!  Also working on a new Woo Pig Sooie  design my good friend Cameron inspired me to do. So...Stay tuned for something Hog~tastic!  God Bless and Best Wishes for 2012!
